Dear Diary: She's back in business
This month is truly an absolutely fantastic month.
As I am officially in college!!, it’s crazy! I’ve been a college student for one month. It’s hard to believe how much has happened in such a short time frame.
Good experiences, bad experiences, extremely fun times, extremely boring times. The past few years I feel like I've experienced it all!
When the day came closer to begin my course, my anxiety levels rose, they didn't rise in a bad way though, I was anxious with excitement. I grew more excited the more I researched counselling concepts, the more I purchased, the happier I got and realised it was perfectly normal to be nervous, and everybody else was in the same boat.
We still have a long way to go, but we've learned so much already. My brain feels like it's going to explode. It’s full to the brim with terms such as psychoanalytic approaches, transference and counter-transference and of course Freud. It wouldn't be a psychology course without the infamous Freud, well, technically it is counselling but you can't learn one without the other so here we are.
Just like that my life has changed dramatically
Every new(ish) student talks about re-finding themselves, their passions and values after beginning education so it's somewhat stereotypical but…. WOW, I am discovering so much about myself.
The course is only 10 weeks finishing right on top of Christmas with Level 2 starting February. I have already applied for this in my eagerness! My love for psychology, sociology and human behaviour has me motivated to learn and I think I have already decided on a modality for when I qualify!
I have always loved science and after suffering in the past with poor mental health I discovered spiritual practices (Yoga, meditation, mindfulness) so I think the link between science and spirituality is an area I need to explore. Even if I just inspire one person to discover something new, this would be all worth it. So here it is, my brand new blog. Let's see where this adventure takes me.
My goal is to become a counsellor specialising in trans-personal psychology. Exploring human growth and help people discover a deep and more enduring essential self that exists beyond the conditioned ego.
I just feel like I need to put to put this out there, am so incredibly grateful, to the universe for dealing me a better hand than I have had in previous years.
